What is DDT?
DDT (Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is a manmade substance that was created in Scotland 1873, by a man namde Othmar Zeilder. In its natural state DDT is a white powdery substance that has little to no odor. DDT is a parasite that is used to kill bugs. DDT was first used as a bug killer in World War II to kill the bugs on the soldiers to prevent diseases. In the 1940's, DDT was used in gardens all across America for the same purpose. Because of DDT, malaria became almost nonexistent because of its power to kill mosquitos.
However in 1972, the Enviormental Protection Agency cancelled hte use of DDT becuase of its affects on the enviroment as well as on human beings. It DDT is breathed in, the particles will get caught in your fat pockets and stay there. DDT will stay there because DDT in soluble in fat lipids. If too much is breathed in, DDT can cause major health problems even death. The first sign of problems of DDT began with the publishing of the cook Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. Her book discussed the nasty affects of DDT and its harshness on nature.
